James Christoferson is a strategic adviser at PSW, where he advises clients on a wide range of issues including appropriations, commerce, defense, and technology. As the Founder and President of Gentium Strategies Christoferson has over 15 years of senior level experience in D.C. and strong relationships with the entire Texas congressional delegation, the Republican Conference in the U.S. House and Senate, and with senior staff and appointed officials throughout the current Administration.
Before starting Gentium, James helped run the day-to-day operations for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, assisting in overseeing policy, communications, and helping to pass key legislation, such as the defense authorization bills and the bi-partisan 2017 NASA bill – the first NASA bill to have been signed into law in seven years and one of the first major reauthorization bills to be signed by President Donald J. Trump.
As the Clerk of the Senate Appropriations Commerce, Justice and Science committee, James was in charge of funding and oversight for key federal agencies, including the U.S. Departments of Justice and Commerce. Because of his leadership, the subcommittee was able to make significant improvements in the operation of the FBI and saved taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars by cutting redundant programs and wasteful spending.
Prior to serving as Clerk, James was Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for former U.S. Senator, and current U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Kay Bailey Hutchison, where he oversaw the Senator’s D.C. office, legislative portfolio, and policy priorities.
James also has extensive experience working in state and local government, including coordinating the economic development efforts for the State of Texas and serving as Texas’ Director for the Office of Defense Affairs, where he managed programs to assist 17 key communities with military bases around the state.
A native Texan, James was raised in Abilene and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University where he was named the school’s 2010 Most Distinguished Young Alumni.
